I have a situation. On my own machine (Panther), my project works fine, as well as on several other Panther machines. On a friend's machine (Jaguar), it breaks with an NSPlaceholderString error. I know from poking around that this error happens when one passes a nil NSString into stringWithString. The problem is, I use stringWithString in a number of places, and I cannot reproduce this error on my system. Further, the error doesn't give me the information necessary to figure out why it's breaking on my friend's machine.
Normally I'd go over there, install Project Builder, compile and try to debug or something, but her machine is in Maryland, and I'm in Washington state. Not so easy. Nor, sadly, can I find a Jaguar machine locally to test on. Nor is my friend tech-literate enough to run the debugger. So...
Does anyone have any idea how I could narrow down where this particular problem is? It only happens on Jaguar, seemingly. :(
