You can also use this wrapper : http://www.rogueamoeba.com/~qdc/pub/osx/CocoaHotKeys2.tgz
I use it in BuddyPop, it's quite simple to use

Yes. Two of Apple's Cocoa sample code projects demonstrate how to use the
Carbon hot key API in a Cocoa app. One of them is UIElementInspector. I
don't recall what the other is.
