I tried bringing the application back to my development computer it it
did not work there either. I guessed the problem was in the bundle
transfer. I had copied the application to a student's USB drive. He
copied it onto another Mac where it failed. When I gave him a disk
image file instead to expand on the other Mac it worked fine.
Apparently the USB drive corrupted the application. The drive is
normally used for Windows machines (the student's, not mine) and
perhaps disk formatting is bad for application bundles. It always
looked fine on the drive, and just went between two Macs, but just
writing to the drive seemed to ruin the bundle.
Thanks for the ideas.
