Subject: Re: Xcode and Java <problems, question>
I would hope that Java 1.4.2 is supported before we move to Java 1.5. I have still not survived to move to 1.4.2 Update 1. I am still working on my Apache FOP cocoa obj-c application that calls Java FOP via the bridge using a worker thread. I now have collected three methods to call Java from objective-c and cocoa.
1. NSClassFromString
2 NSJavaClassesFromPath foundation functions
3. porting examples http://developer.apple.com/samplecode/JavaSplashScreen/JavaSplashScreen.html
I reported my problem as a bug and just got a tool example for porting Java code. A solutions to someone's problem, however, it was not a solution to my problem.
I will report when I get it working. No one in the group seems interested. Apple is not interested. Maybe I am going is a wrong direction.
If there are any examples that work with Xcode 1.5, Java 1.4.2 update 2 out there with an cocoa objective-c application calls a java class, please pass them to me.
I am currently working on a Unsupported major minor version 48 problem, using method two, NSJavaClassesFromPath. I am so close to get it working.
I love objective-c, but, I want my Formatting Objects. I wonder if apple will add them and make my life easier.
And when will there be a native target that compiles Java sources?

Hi everyone,
I am a Cocoa-Java programmer and I of course use Xcode for some of my work (and Eclipse for the rest). I have two things to say:
* first, be aware that Xcode 1.5's Java templates incorrectly set GDB as the default debugger, which is OK for Objective-C code but not for Java code. You have to manually set the "Java debugger" option in the current executable's inspector to enable Java debugging.
* second, I have a question for anyone who knows. Java 5 is out. Do you know how/when/if this release will be made available on Mac OS? Will Tiger (as in the next Mac OS X) bring Tiger (as in Java 5) along like Panther brought 1.4, or can we expect a Java Update before then?
