Hi everyone,

Going off a suggestion on a forum I visit, I did the following:

1) Start the download of Tiger
2) When the download got to about 500MB, pause the download (using Safari)
3) Unplug ethernet cable from wall
4) Wait (for the connection to be fully terminated)
5) Re-plug in ethernet cable
6) Wait (for a connection to be re-negotiated)
7) Resume download
8) Enjoy

I woke up this morning to a spiffy 2.26GB file on my hard drive, so it's time to go upgrade!

I think this pretty well shows that it wasn't a problem of mine (like, not a problem with Safari or Finder or my iBook at all), but rather a problem with my ISP not liking a file stream >2GB. So by killing the connection and re-instating it, the file stream was chopped into two smaller, more manageable file streams. This process should theoretically work for downloads of any size.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions and especially the moderators for permitting the off topic thread to stay alive. =)

Thanks!

Yes, I'm aware that HFS+ can handle super large files, which is why I'm so perplexed.

And I am using the latest Safari. I've tried Safari 1.2.4 (v125.12), FireFox, Interarchy, and Transmit. None of them have worked.

Thanks (and I continue to apologize for the off-topicness)
