One thing no one has mentioned is that EOF (Obj-C) didn't require a specific superclass and I believe it was generally viewed as a mistake. There are quite a number of advantages that can come from using a required superclass, not the least of which is a number of conveniences giving ease of implementation.

I haven't looked at CoreData yet, and I don't *know* that the EOF experience was taken into effect, but I have a hard time imagining it otherwise.

Also, for anyone that hasn't used EOF, this level of Object Graph Management is almost unparalleled. The only product that I am aware of that has similar functionality is TopLink, which has its origins in SmallTalk. So, parallels to other system are hard to draw.
