Understand that the use of GPL for this will likely prevent many folks from using this in their products and by extension desiring to contribute. Please consider a BSD style license.

You might also consider the implications of choosing the full GPL (as opposed to LGPL) when people need to link against non-open source components supplied by Apple. While I think a BSD style license would be best, if you must go Gnu then I would urge using the LGPL for libraries. (After all, the first L in LGPL originally stood for Library).
