I use the Creative Commons licenses at <http://creativecommons.org/>. Pick
the one that suits you -- they're very well explained.
I'm a lawyer, but don't let that affect your decision. Prof. Larry Lessig at
Stanford Law School is the man behind Creative Commons, and he's a very
smart guy. I know some of the people who were involved at the beginning of
this project when he was a professor at Harvard Law School. Their mission is
to provide license forms that encourage as much openness as possible (for
example, freeware) while allowing the creator to retain as many rights as
desired.
I use the "attribution" license for a free framework of mine. Anybody can
use the framework in their own software projects, as long as they mention my
name. <http://www.quecheesoftware.com/downloads/UUID.html>
