Dear CocoaDev subscribers,
I am a graduate student in the Computer Science department at Mills
College in Oakland, CA and am have selected as a topic for my graduate
thesis a research project on SuperCollider 3, which, as you may know,
is an open-source system for sound synthesis.
An important part of the research approach I have selected is
something called "Grounded Theory", which is a qualitative methodology
coming from the social sciences introduced by Strauss and Glaser in
1967.
Part of that methodology is the interview process, where parties
intrinsic to the design are consulted and asked for their perspective.
If you happen to make music with SuperCollider, or, for that matter,
make music with your Macintosh at all, I would consider your
perspective intrinsic to this process.
If you are located in the Bay Area or plan to be in the Bay Area in
the next 60 days and have about one hour of free time, I would be
grateful for your time to share with me some of the ways you use
SuperCollider 3 and your ideas on how it might be augmented.
The interview takes about an hour and examples of some of the
interviews which have already taken place as well as the thesis
proposal itself can be found at
http://www.netspheres.net/reference/interviews.
I look forward to including you in this process which I believe will
provide some valuable contributions to the SuperCollider 3 project.
Please feel free to contact me at email@hidden; I am happy to meet you
anywhere in the Bay area at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Barton Friedland
