It solves the problem of windows that you'd like to see when you'd like to
see them but at no other time. To judge by their feedback, many users of my
MemoryStick app, for example, would be pleased to see a widget version: they
don't want a constantly present window and they don't want it to occupy
space in the Dock, whereas I refuse to occupy any space in the status bar,
so there needs to be some other way to summon the window, glance at it, and
dismiss it - just what Dashboard provides. m.
