Background keyDown events

Hello.

Is there a way to register to receive keyDown: and keyUp: events while my app is in the background? Don't worry, I'm not writing a keystroke logger. I just want to listen for the option key being pressed and released. In my case I really am watching for NSFlagsChanged in sendEvent: of my overridden NSApplication.
