Getting list-size (16 x 16) document icon for list

Hi All

Just a quick question: Is there a method by which one can get a high-quality list-size (16 x 16) document icon for reproduction in a list?

the iconForFile method from NSWorkspace retrieves a 32 x 32 icon that doesn't scale well for use in compact lists. Is there a better option?
