available printer page sizes

  • Subject: available printer page sizes

Greetings:

I am in the process of developing a Point of Sale App, which uses a receipt printer.

I have looked into the printing architecture articles, and have found out how to get available printers, set the printer for the shared print info object, etc. However, as the receipt printer has an abnormal size, I am having a problem printing the receipts, because the printer scales the full letter size down to the very small paper size, rendering the receipt basically unreadably small.

I am planning on a preferences window wherein the user sets the printer, and the printer's page size once, and the result is saved for future use. This would prevent the user from having to set the printer and paper size every time the app is loaded. For this I need to access the available page sizes for the particular printer, but there doesn't seem to be a sensible or straightforward way to do this. (If there is, I haven't seen it)

Any help would be appreciated.

Andrew
