Thanks to the list I am making progress on my problem of bundling precompiled libraries with my Cocoa application.

Many thanks to both Bob and Miklós - their help has been fantastic.

As it happens the solution involves a mix of both approaches. I hope to post a full description of the procedure etc in the next few days.
