Pros:
1. The status value of being a "Select" developer and the knowledge
that your not missing out on anything possibly worthwhile
2. The hardware discount
3. The possibility of downloading gigabytes of preview releases, to
install and delete
4. DTS incidents, when you feel lazy, you can offload two programming
problems on Apple
5. A copy of the OS du jour
Cons:
1. Getting a monthly mailing DVD with useless stuff (it used to waste
my time, but now it gets moved unexamined into the trash bin)
2. Price maybe
Objectively being a select developer hasn't been all that useful to
me, but not being select developer for a few months was somehow
uncomfortable.
If you want to buy a G5 and a display this year, the select discount
and the seed key are probably worth it. If you don't buy hardware and
you don't program for a living, I wouldn't do it.
