fun with NSTextView (almost-newbie)

hey folks,

i'm messing about with NSTextView and am wondering how hard it is to replicate some of the features found in BBEdit (which i know isn't an NSTextView):

* Current line has transparent colored highlight
* Tab stops visible as vertical lines on page
* Showing a section of the textview with a different background color starting at a certain column (so for instance, if i wanted to set my page to "80 columns" then the background of the textview from columns 81+ would show in different color).

I realize these are big questions - probably well beyond the scope of this list - I am more looking for code examples of the above, or a direction as to what objects to look at to get started...?

Cheers,

D.
