MacOnLinux is pretty cool. I compiled it a bit ago (back in
December) - the source code has been updated since, but I haven't had
the time to get the new source and play with it. Compiling it was a
bit problematic. It will, but I had to patch some stuff.
Running OS X in it on OS X is quite buggy, though. It tends to
kernel panic and crash often. Well, with the code I've compiled
with. As I said, it was updated recently, so perhaps some of these
issues have been fixed.
Feel free to ask me off list if you want any pointers on it, though
perhaps I should grab the newest source and play with it before I try
answering.
A while back, I went through all the trouble of setting up Linux on a
spare machine for the explicit purpose of running several copies of OS
X under MacOnLinux. Wasn't worth my time, OS X running under
MacOnLinux is not stable, so it's basically useless. Doesn't look
like a new release has been cut since then, either...

Hmm. That hasn't been my experience. For a while I had some version
of Yellow Dog installed on a TiBook and ran, at separate times, Jaguar
and Panther in MOL sessions with no issues that I can recall. I was
very impressed... it really did seem virtually as fast as just running
Jaguar or Panther directly. I never did go to the trouble of figuring
out how to run Jaguar and Panther side by side in simultaneous MOL
sessions, though. I don't think I ever tried a Tiger seed in MOL,
though, nor have I tried compiling MOL to run on Mac OS X.
Things I recall doing in the MOL sessions included running Mail.app,
iTunes, Office v.X, and ProjectBuilder/Xcode/IB. IIRC, I had some
occasional wake-from-sleep freezes with YDL, though, and ultimately
decided to switch back to just Mac OS X. I was also disappointed
because I wanted to dabble in Java 5 and I assumed running Linux would
let me do so... then I quickly found that Java is not well supported on
PowerPC Linux... I think I could only find 1.3.x.
I look forward to seeing an official native build of MOL for Mac OS X!
