Sorry for the poor communication, Andreas - I am using Obj-C; "garbage collection" used to be a generic term before Java co-opted it.

:-)

Anyway, I did resolve the issue by using timer events to break up my work loop instead of just grinding through an entire 900 page document in one chunk.

So you are using Cocoa-Java? Sorry, no idea.

What about using Objective-C instead?
