Incorrect and correct. If you pre-authorize, then the authorization
will by default time out after 5 minutes. AFAIK, the only way to
work around this is to modify the /etc/authorization file.
And keep in mind that you should probably only modify the rights
database programmatically using the Security APIs, not vi or part of
some Perl script in your installer (as an example). Refer to <http://

tn2095.html#ModifyingThePolicyDatabase> for more info.
Off the top of my head I don't recall the details of what rights you
need to modify rights, et al. Read the Security documentation for
such details. You of course won't be able to just change things
willy-nilly.
Also, this topic has been done to death here and - in particular - on
the apple-cdsa list. Check the archives. Also, subscribe to the
apple-cdsa list if you're interested in this area, as many of the
relevant developers at Apple are active on that list and always very
helpful.
