Ladies and gentlemen, check the sample code. It can save you a lot of trouble.

Beware, though - it might also cause you some trouble, if you care about EXIF metadata. In the sample project ExampleInputImage.jpg has a full set of EXIF tags, all gone in the resized output image.

Maybe not a problem for all applications, but it will be for some. Don't know if it's possible to use ImageIO to transplant the metadata from source to destination.
