I can't quite believe the arrogance of this. Are we not also end users? There's a useful mechanism there and we're contemplating breaking it not for any particular technical advantage but because we've decided that it's not useful to mere mortals?

Two points,

1. Users expect to find preference files in the preference folder.

2. What is the advantage of putting preferences in the Application Support Folder?

Maybe my original post was unclear...?!
Point 1: I agree.
Point 2: There is no advantage.
