I'm trying to create some system profiles from the command line and dumping them to a file like this:

system_profiler SPStartupItemDataType -XML > ~/Desktop/ SPStartupItemDataType.spx

I get a file, but when I open it with System Profiler I get just this text -> "There was an error while gathering this information."

If I open it with plist editor I can see the data is there.

I am doing this on 10.4.3, is there a problem I don't know about?
