The Leica Disto is a distance measuring tool which connects over Bluetooth using the connection as a serial port. Therefore, it should be comparatively trivial to use this serial connection in order to read the data from this device over the virtual serial port.

Take a look at Apple's Bluetooth sample code, I think there's eome code for using a virtual serial port connection in there.

For starters, try to pair the device and dump all the data you receive so that you can examine what you get. Once you've made that, you are close to a workable solution.
