Does NSButton wrap long titles?

Sorry if I have missed the obvious.
I'm trying to make an NSButton (simple square button, with or without
an image) wrap its long title. And I can't. Yes, I tried -setWraps:.
And I'm not using attributed titles.
It doesn't wrap long titles in IB either. I have tried everything (or
so I think) in the Line Break pop-up in the NSButton inspector. It
seems that only clip and truncate options work as advertised. On the
other hand, if I insert line breaks in a title manually (Option
+Enter), lines do break as they should. That's not good for me
because I wanted to change some buttons' titles programmatically and
they can be too long to fit on one line.
Is this even possible at all?
