they'll provide Universal binaries, but don't want to support non-UB
code running on new machines. that does seem sensible if the app is,
say, in a vertical market.
apple would not be happy if you needlessly blame them for bugs in
your code.
don't anthropomorphize Apple, it hates when you do that.
