Just in case someone goes looking for the book mentioned below, its
title
is actually "Expert C Programming" and the author is Peter van der
Linden.
"Deep C Secrets" is a subtitle.

There's one called "Deep C Secrets" which explains the parsing of
declarations so thoroughly that after I read it I was actually able to
figure out those things like declaring an array of pointers to
functions
that return arrays of pointers to... Of course, I need to do such
things so
rarely that within a few months I had completely forgotten the
info ;-)
