NSTextField blocking mouseDown: on NSImageView

I have a textfield in front of an image well. I did the image well responding to mouseDown, and works quite well except for one thing: the area of the textfield blocks the event.

Any clues on how can I the textfield to be non-blocking for the mouseDown event?
