Disappearing NSButtons

I have a simple application that has some buttons that are enabled/disabled. About 1/2 of the time at application launch a button that is disabled disappears. If I resize the window the button reappears.

I am logging the super view of the buttons and everything looks fine.

I'm sure someone on the list has run into this before. What gives? Any ideas?
