Unconventional UI

I've been asked to create an application with an unconventional UI, in other words, one that doesn't have the standard Apple metal or Aqua rectangular window. Instead, it needs curves and other graphic bobbles.

I think the thing to do here is to overlay the custom UI on top of a transparent window frame. Is there any way to do this? Am I searching in the right direction for the solution?

Thanks!

August
