Our director has just chipped in on this discussion.

He points out that in terms of cash, the wasted time for this single example works out at the best part of $3000 (simply my wage and office space, etc, for a week). That waste is being repeated on a daily bases all over the world. It adds up to an quite astronomical waste of resources, given that the problem could be addressed relatively trivially.
