Controlling startup / shutdown of a program.

I'm fairly new at this.

I've written a small server app that I need to occasionally restart because it uses NSAppleScript calls which apparently leak memory. I'm not exactly sure how to write a "helper" app or better yet a preference pane that can start up and shut down my app. I messed with some things before but could never get it work reliably.

Any guidelines?

Thanks, Heath
