Sound Mgr Examples? Do they even exist?

Hi,

Why is there such a lack of Sound Mgr example code. Isn't there some kind of an example
that would allow someone to "record" a sound sample, then "play" it back?

I looked high and low all over the net... there are lots of Freeware "recorder" programs,
but none available in source code of course.

Which sound Mgr routines can I use to digitize audio from a Mic, and place it into a
"sound buffer"... then I want to "play" it back. I also want to be able to set the
"sample rate". I only need voice quality at this time, so 8k sample rate would be just
fine.

Of course I scoured all of the ADC site, tech notes, sample "goody" disks from Apple,
and of course there are none.

Has anyone bothered to write such code who is willing to "throw out some scraps" for us
newbee programmers?

John
