This works just fine and doesn't depend on the event loop behavior of the control.

For the record, the "grab the mouseDown and poll for mouseDragged and mouseUp"
behavior can be an enormous nuisance if you are trying to subclass the thing. The fact that
NSTextView does this caused me a lot of grief recently.
