Window Menu

Hi,

I was just wondering if there's any easy way to reopen a window using its item in the Window menu (check out Address Book, for example). Right now, the item only survives in the Window menu as long as the window is open, but I'd like it to remain there without a check-mark in order to be used to reopen the window. I'm fairly certain I could manage this on my own, but I have a feeling that Apple's already done the work for me, I just don't know about it. Thanks in advance for any help.
