Well, I disagree. If I turn on the Number column in Mail.app and then sort
by Subject, the numbers in the Number column do not remain static: they
travel with the messages as the messages are re-ordered. So I would have to
say that the number *is* a property of the elements inside the array: each
*message* has a number. m.
