That is with text that is already selected.

So in IE (for example) you will have to deselect the current selection by clicking once before you can make a new selection that starts inside the previously selected range. Also the cursor changes to an arrow when you mouse over a block of selected text.

In Cocoa you may select a new range by just dragging without any delay but you have to hold the mouse button for about half a second before you can drag a selection.

I like the old way (i.e. like IE) better. It's more intuitive IMHO.
