While it probably is
pretty uncommon for someone to have three or monitors,

Bad assumption.. I've used three monitors since 1995. (two monitors before then since 1988)..

Okay, I'll admit that I only got the third for A-10 Attack, but I've been addicted ever since..
One monitor shows what the user sees, one monitor for source, one monitor for active debugger.

But I do know personally 3 other engineers, and two graphic designers who also use three monitors..

So by the "six degrees of Kevin Bacon" rule, it's statistically much more common than you think =)

Same here! I ran 3x Apple 20" MS from 1995-2003; down to 2x when one died (that was a rough transition period, lemme tell ya). I'll be ordering 2x 30" Cinema, once Apple announces the new G5 Quadra... ;)
