NSPredicates by hand as in the spotlighter example is incredibly
awkward/labor intensive. It would be much nicer if
predicateWithFormat worked.
I don't see anything glaring.. but it's 7:30am , and I've been up

Same here. Time to enjoy the long weekend rather than battle Cocoa
monsters.
but as i said, typing*Strings File* into spotlighter worked nice.
