In case you live in the DC area and are just getting started with Mac
OS X development, I'm speaking on "The Joy of Cocoa" at the Tyson's
Corner Apple Store at 7pm on Tuesday, July 5. It will feature a
breathtaking Core Data demo and me shamelessly plugging my books and
classes.
Also, I wanted to mention our "Analysis and Design Workshop." John
Graziano, who had a major part in the design of Xcode, WebObjects
Builder, and many of the animation systems at Pixar, is coming to the
Big Nerd Ranch to lecture and guide hands-on exercises that teach
good design practices. He is going to focus on creating designs that
make change and maintenance easy. John started developing these
ideas when we worked together at NeXT, and they have received much
acclaim within NeXT, Apple, and Pixar. Bring your specifications,
and go home with the beginnings of a really good design for your
