Thanks Chris.  I found the 'window' method a little later, but I was worried that NSAlert might use a shared NSPanel and "hacking" it might mess up other stuff.  Do you (or anyone) know if NSAlert creates a new NSPanel/NSWindow every time, and is it safe to resize it and start adding controls?
