Strange sdef behaviour was AppleScript and plug-ins

  • Subject: Strange sdef behaviour was AppleScript and plug-ins

I had a Xcode 1.x project that complied a Cocoa document based application with a simple dictionary defined using sdef and complied using the sdp tool as a run script in Xcode.

Convert this project into Xcode 2.1 the doco told me that I no longer need to use sdp tool.
Problem 1. Script Editor no longer displays the dictionary I have defined in the sdef file

If I insert the sdp shell
I only get the Suite name displayed in Script Editor but with the expand arrow to view dictionary definitions.

The other Suites like Standard Suite, Text, Application have the expand arrows in Script Editor to display the Suites classes, parameters, etc.

I realise I am missing a step, but I can't find out anything from the doco.

Any help would be great
Thanks in advance
Stephen

Is it possible for a plug-in to add new script suites to the main application? I'm thinking about putting most of my application's functionality in the plug-ins, but not if it means forfeiting AppleScript. Of course, this could be a complete non-issue... I haven't worked enough with Cocoa & AppleScript to be sure. Somehow I'm thinking that this is possible, and that the reason Script Editor launches an application before it opens its script directory is to give it a chance to load its plug-ins... is that totally off-base?

For the record, this appears to be possible through the method - [NSScriptSuiteRegistry loadSuitesFromBundle:].
