Try creating a brand new button, then setting it to small square button. That is all that is needed to allow the height to be set as well. This has always worked for me and worked when I just tried it. I even put in a small test graphic and it worked wonderfully (it clipped because it was actually 16x16, but the button size remained 13x13).

maybe it's because i'm using an old verion of IB -- i'm on os x 10.2.8. this is the closest/best i can do: drag a round button onto the window. tick 'small' checkbox. set button type to square button. at this point the small checkbox becomes greyed out but stays checked. in the size panel i then set the frame's width and height to 13 but only the width accepts this value. the height goes to 23. and attempting to drag it smaller makes no difference. :/

thanks, ben.

The size is dictated by the button type. Set it to something like "small square button", then uncheck "bordered". This should allow you to set the size appropriately.

thanks for the reply. i have actually tried numerous combinations of those sort of setting (button types, sizes) and no luck. for me the 'small' checkbox isn't available having set the button to square button. but square button does give the closest to what i want -- width wise it goes to 13 pixels but the height has a minimum size of 23 pixels -- 10 too big. (and deselecting 'bordered' gets rid of the appearance of the button). so i just can't make the height of a square button 13 pixels, only 23. ...?

thanks, ben.

i'm trying to make the size of a button 13 x 13 pixels because that's the size of the icon image i'm placing on the button, using icon and alt icon. it doesn't matter which button type i use IB stops me from having it that size. also i'd like whatever button is used not to be visible at all, just the icon image that i've supplied which is circular (13 pixels diameter). so i'd like to make a button out of an icon basically. what's the best way to do this? (os x 10.2.8 and above). any pointers appreciated.

thanks, ben.
