We are looking for the documentation of a method that allows us to show/hide a window.

actually, this documentation IS in NSWindow. makeKeyAndOrderFront: and orderOut:

My personal problem with this is that it never says that what it does is hide a window. The word hide is never used. Instead it says that it "takes the receiver out of the screen list". If I search in the documentation for the phrase "hide window", I would expect the right method to pop up. It doesn't.
