screensaver notifications?

in an effort to keep my app from wasting power and network bandwidth when it can't even be seen...

i'd like to be notified when the screen is turned off (and back on) by the power management system and also when a screensaver is started and stopped. i can't find the notifications for these 4 actions.

i've got it set up to sleep when the machine is completely put to sleep and when the user is switched out, but i'm trying to cover all possible bases.

any ideas?
