It seems you were right after all. I set the importer's Info.plist to export *both* types, then changed the GetMetadataForFile() routine to only index if it's the 'ext2' type. Thanks for the suggestion, even if it at first fell upon deaf (or uneducated) ears.

Though it fixed the issue, this seems ... wrong. I don't *want* the importer to claim that type. Is there a better approach to this?

Did you correctly set up the UTExportedTypeDeclarations key in the importer Info.plist?


Spotlight importers are driven off of their info plist, and not the application's.
