Cannot instantiate subclass of NSController

Hello,

I have subclassed NSController and created a MyController class. IB will not let me instantiate it, and it will also not let me select MyController as a CustomClass for any of the Controller items I can drag from the palette. I'm using XCode 2.1. Any ideas?
