Looking for a mentor

  • Subject: Looking for a mentor

Hi folks,

From my previous postings it must be clear that I'm a real newbie at Cocoa. I've also been programming for yonks so I do get a bit frustrated at not finding the exact answer to my questions in the copious and extensive but somehow not quite 'right' (for me) documentation. Most of what I'm trying to do seems (to me, at least) very basic but when I try to read up specific subjects they're either too specific (and not quite doing what I want, of course) or too vague and general to get me coding. I suppose I'm looking for the equivalent of the PowerPlant book - a general overview of subjects, then more details, then real wortld examples. And, of course, in PP you can look at the code and see exactly what's going on.

So, rather than pepper the list with my dumb questions I wonder if someone would be interested in being a mentor for me, answering my questions, steering me in the right direction, and giving advice on Cocoa 'good practices'. I can't offer much of an hourly rate but there's a nice, little known Scotch distillery just down the road which could produce a flavoursome 'thank you'.

Cheers,

Rev. Andy
