I'm generally surprised at how *often* this issue gets brought up.
Personally I think that nested sheets are very easy for users to
understand: sheets basically convey to the user "Before you can
continue with that, you need to deal with this", and most people have
come across situations in real life where something they are doing as
a means to an end requires something else to be sorted out before
they can proceed.
I guess that someone once did some research which said that nested
modal dialogs were bad because users got confused about which dialog
pertained to which. But can anybody tell me whether this research has
been done after the invention of sheets, which enforce not only the
association between a modal dialog and the pane for which it is
modal, but also the order in which the panes must be addressed?
Best wishes,
Hamish
