Unexpected quit during runModalForWindow

| My app has a Setup Assistant that runs soon after the app is launched. On 10.3.0-10.3.8, if a user drops-down a menu in the menu bar, the app quits suddenly (no crash log or error message).
The Setup Assistant is run from a method called by performSelectorOnMainThread.Its a nib-based window that runs using NSApp -runModalForWindow.
Anyone have an idea what might be happening here? The app is built on Tiger using the 10.3.9 SDK (10.3 is required by the app). I'm installing 10.3.0 to use the debugger there.
