I don't know the answer to your question. But check out the new
Skeleton.sdef file posted on Apple's example code site last night or this
morning. It seems to contain a number of changes from previous sdef examples
of the core suite that I have examined. Perhaps the 'document', 'open' and
'close' definitions in Skeleton.sdef are different in some relevant way from
what you're currently using.

The same download includes the Sketch-112 sdef file. I didn't examine it to
see if it is different from the one in the Sketch-112 example full source
code download.
